Guard Your Heart

Our Devotional Team has reminded us of some fundamental truths in God’s Word from this week’s topic, “Discouragement.” We pray that your hearts have been encouraged!
SCRIPTURE: “Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, 13 and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:” Hebrews 12:12-14
As light and salt in this world, we have a responsibility to be about God’s glory and honor. For what comes to steal our fruitfulness, we must have a plan of combat/war. We know the evil one’s plan to make us ineffective; therefore, our Lord has made provision for us. Yes, and we find our strategy in His Word. The Word of God gives us divine guidance; for He is the Lord, the author and finisher of our faith!

The Lord has said some things to encourage us. In the time of trouble, He promised He can hide us; we can expect His mercy and truth to be forever with us! Pastor often states how when we choose to open our Word, it is a direct encounter with the Lord Jesus. He has chosen to be our lifeline; and He is faithful to do just that!

Whether we choose to open God’s Word, memorize verse(s), or even sing spiritual songs that give us life, it is necessary for the believer to choose to move from a place of disconsolation to a place where He can use us again. For we are indeed His workmanship created to do what brings Him pleasure (Ephesians 2:10). We are warned, yes, commanded to put on the armor of God (Ephesians 6:11), guard our hearts in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7), pray always (I Thessalonians 5:17). Jesus wants us to know He is the source of our strength and power! He is our deliverer, able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we could ask or think. He is our Savior and Lord; and we should be consumed with the great privilege to bring Him glory. Grateful for Jesus-Hallelujah!

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your plan to use us for Your purposes. When we find ourselves low, help us to embrace You and Your promises to be our present help. Help us to forever know You are our rod and staff that comforts us; and Your goodness and mercy will follow us all the days of our lives. Thank You Father! In Jesus’ Name-Amen!
