Anchored in a Storm by the Word

SCRIPTURE: “Then they cry out to the Lord in their trouble, and He brings them out of their distresses. 29 He calms the storm, so that its waves are still.” Psalm 107:28-29
I have had the opportunity to go on two cruises. How lovely and enjoyable were these trips with so many amenities until a storm arose. When the storm arose, my only concern was the lifeboats and would the anchor hold the boat!

Joshua 1:8 says “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Jesus said, “My words are living and powerful.” As we meditate – spend time quietly, listen, ponder on His truths, and take self-inventory, we find our hearts sensitive and open to hearing what He has to say and choosing to obey.

Life is so unstable and unpredictable, yet God’s Word becomes an anchor for our souls. His Word makes us steadfast and enables us not to break down under the weight of things that attack our faith. This hope and stability which the believing soul has is in the Lord Jesus Who alone is the anchor of our soul.

PRAYER:  Oh Father, may the Word of God anchor us today so that no matter what storm is arising, we can continue to “Bloom where we are planted.” In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
