Reviving My Spiritual Temple

SCRIPTURE: “For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building. 10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. 11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ… 16Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” 1 Corinthians 3:9-11, 16
As we look at 1 Corinthians, we see a church that needed to resolve ethical, doctrinal, and practical problems that had arisen in their newly established church. They were still dealing with sexual vice and prostitution for which they were known. Paul uses “Do you not know…” eight times from Chapters 3-6 to establish a level of accountability to their faith in Christ.
God’s truths that had established this church were: 1 Corinthians 1:18, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” and 1 Corinthians 1:26-29 26 “For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. 27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; 28 and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, 29 that no flesh should glory in His presence.”

Reviving my spiritual temple acknowledges that Jesus Christ is my foundation, and this has given me purpose and assignment. Jesus Christ is the Foundation – Matthew 7:24-26. All of us are ministers (diakonos) servants; a person who serves has purpose and each is building on the foundation which is the assignment -1 Corinthians 3:5-15.  When we come into a covenant relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ, we become united with Him “in spirit” by “The Spirit.” This union, like marriage, restricts us from engaging in other unions that would defile our covenant relationship with God. 2 Corinthians 4:16 says “Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.” As you revive your spiritual temple by cultivating a more intimate fellowship with the Lord, He will have more of you to pour out to others and still be refreshed!!

PRAYER: Thank You Lord that I am Your workmanship, and You are using every second, minute, hour, day, and year to conform me to Your image. Thank You for being my foundation and assignment to bring You Glory!!!
