FAITH, ALIVE

SCRIPTURE: "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him... and whatsoever ye do, do it heartily as to the Lord and not unto men ... " Colossians 3:17, 23-24 (KJV)
Yep, Paul, with apostolic authority, cuts no slack here with that huge 'whatsoever' upon all doing and all speaking. No matter how long our list of things is done, or to be done, the opportunity, even the imperative, throughout it all is worship. None are exempt. The aspiration to have is Faith in Every Action, to make for Faithfulness in every believing ‘whom’. Faith, Alive!

Know that WORSHIP WORKS. One who worships is well-inclined to bless God and blesses others. That's work. "Turn away from evil and do what is good. Seek peace and pursue it (Psalm 34:14)." If authentic, the work throughout worship declares itself through both righteousness and love, as God has permitted us to receive both by His Spirit. In ‘Him’ and ‘His’, these two are not so segregated.

Know that WORSHIP WALKS. One who worships, walks out in public what is real in private, giving a witness for Christ without shame. "... Walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh (Galatians 5:16)."

Know that WORSHIP WRESTLES. One who worships knows that our worship is in conflict with a fallen world, an invisible domain captained by the adversary, and that the work of resistance is likened to spiritual combat. Lives are at stake, including those whom you know. Some whom you know are pawns under the sway of this evil. Some whom you know are being spiritually targeted. "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God...(2 Corinthians 10:3-5)"

Know that WORSHIP WHISPERS.  One who worships, prayerfully welcomes the Word of Life, the Bible, and seeks to measure his or her own words with its truths.  Much like a small lit candle can command the darkness of a big room, the word of God, has power and brings light to the darkness. The gospel as a whispered gift from God, has made bright our own hearts, and when shared will brighten others. "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path (Psalm 119:105)." Amen.

PRAYER: Heavenly and eternal Father, we bless You with the fruit of thanksgiving, knowing You care. Having this precious call upon us to walk out these days with a mind for worship, Lord, help us to do so very well. Forgive us when we stumble, and diminish in our affections the reality of this great grace. We ask this in the matchless name of Jesus. Amen.
