SUNDAY MORNING PRAYERS with Pastor Wayne Cockrell

SCRIPTURE: “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” 1 Peter 2:9-10
Almighty God and our eternal Father, this morning once again as a people called by Your name we gather in this place in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. We offer up thanks, right up front, for the great love wherewith You have loved us, even when we were the most unlovely. Your love reached down into the debts of our darkness and by Your marvelous grace You have awakened us from darkness to light. As people today who have the life of Jesus in us, we yield that the Holy Spirit will once again do the mighty work of sanctifying our hearts through the Word by being made more and more to look different than what we used to be. Those things residing deep in our hearts will be challenged. The secret ambitions, the secret thoughts, those things that are in us that raise up against the knowledge of Christ, may the Lord today, once again, tear them down so that our spiritual reasoning will be based upon Your Word and not based upon the limited fleshly inclinations that sometimes rule us. We pray Your favor upon this servant that once again, Father, by the power of Your Spirit that You may once again use me to speak in accordance to Your Word. When it’s all said and done, we will be careful to give You all the praise, and give You all the honor, and all the glory for we ask it this day in the matchless name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.
