A Prayer to Press On
SCRIPTURE:
“Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. 16 Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.” Philippians 3:12-16

Our gracious God, You continue to love us and be faithful to us as a Father, a perfect Father, who knows how to deal with each and everyone of His children in a way that is specific to where we are and we thank You for that. So today, we look to a new year, Father. We look with hope. Hope that is not “maybe,” but hope that is rooted in the certainty of our relationship with Jesus Christ, that we have no uncertainties in Him. We know that all the promises are “Yes and Amen in Him.” So, we look to the new year with a new confidence knowing that every moment that goes by, we are drawing closer and closer to the return of our great Savior, the Lord Jesus. As we look back there are many things we are saying, “Bye, Bye” to. Many things we are not looking back to, we are pressing forward, we are still pressing Lord for the upward call of the prize that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Father, may indeed You give unto us a fresh vision of life. Help us to look above the fog that we have come out of, help us to look past the pains we have gone through. Help us Lord to no longer be defined by failures of the past, that we might enter into this new year with a fresh vision, a sense of newness about ourselves, and have an excitement about being better, being closer, being more focused in a very positive way that we come into this new year excited about what You are going to do and looking with great anticipation for what You are going to do and believing that You’re going to do it and we’re trusting You in the mighty and matchless name of our great Savior. Lord, for our church, Genesis Bible Fellowship Church, we look to You Lord, to raise us back up. Cause us to find a moment and come back in confidence, knowing that the Covid matters have been done away with, they have served their season for whatever You have allowed, for what ever You have accomplishing, that they would be in the past and that we, Father, can look forward having come through that time of testing, as better people to serve the better purposes for which You have saved us in Christ Jesus. So, we thank You for that. Heal our hearts, heal the broken relationships, heal us when we deal with the enemies that have come against us. We pray that You would continue Lord to give us the capacity to love like You love, to have an iron clad love, a love that does not give up. A love that is steadfast, a love that continues to poor out despite of rejection, despite resistance, that we would continue to pour out like a funnel of love You have showed toward us and oh God, we’ll give You praise for it. We give You praise for it, Lord God! We give You praise for it in the matchless name of our great Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen and Amen!
