Listening for God’s Voice and Directions

SCRIPTURES:
  • “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
  • “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27
  • “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” James 1:22
  • “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.” John 16:13
The Lord desires to communicate with His people,
The questions are do we listen or make ourselves available?

He knows His plans for our future,
Or are we impatient because we want it sooner?

We are talking about our God who spoke the world into existence,
He sent the Holy Spirit to help, prompt, and assist us.

The Lord is willing to speak so there should not be any excuses,
How He spoke to Moses, Paul, and Hagar is biblically proven.

So, all we must do is be obedient to what He’s already said,
John 13:16 says, His truth gives me directions that are spirit-led.

Our obedience will bring clarity and understanding to the Lord’s voice,
It will interpret His message for guidance while influencing our choices.

Often, we think the Lord is silent as we wait for a fresh word,
Yet, we allow distractions to drown his voice and take wrong turns.

After all, why should He share a fresh word when we ignore it,
We chose to be distracted, busy, cluttered, and distant.

Hearing God’s voice is not instantaneous by far,
It’s about maturity, and how spiritually tuned we are.

When we act in faith, He will trust us even more,
As He speaks, like sheep, we will recognize our Shepherd's voice.

So, let’s activate our spiritual intuitiveness, awareness, and ears,
He speaks through His Word, people, Spirit, and circumstances,
so, we can hear.

PRAYER: We are blessed to have a God that is so sovereign, yet willing to communicate with us in so many ways. Forgive us Lord for ignoring, blocking, disrupting, or rejecting Your voice. We need directions daily! So, thank You for the Holy Spirit and the reminder in John 16:13. In the matchless name of The Son. Amen.
