ONE THING TO DO
From time to time our foolish choices or the unconscionable thing/s we once did in our past, rises up to remind and torment us. Don’t stay there too long, the enemy of our souls would love to see us cast down and disquieted. So this week our scripture and the Devotional Team will bring encouragement from the topic, “Freedom from Past Failures and Offenses.”
Scripture: “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14

Someone has said "It's hard to see the future when you are staring at your past." My successes vs. my failures. People who have hurt me vs. people whom I have hurt. The good times vs. the bad times. What was vs. what I thought should have been. The rearview mirror of life vs. the windshield of an eternal future. God's Sovereignty vs. my plans.
Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. plans of good and not of evil to give you a future and a hope" and Isaiah 55:8-9 says "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways", says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." We cannot change the past, but we can follow Paul's "one thing to do" and reach forth to what is ahead.
Our responsibility is to press which means in the Greek - to pursue, to follow hard after the prize or award promised by God's heavenly call in Christ Jesus. I must choose to focus and grow through the pains of this life to be well pleasing to Him no matter what the cost. Run and not get weary - walk and not faint!
Prayer: Precious Lord You knew my failures and sins before You created me, so I thank You for abundant grace, mercy and forgiveness through my Lord Jesus Christ. He who the Son sets free is FREE indeed!!

Praise be to God. His will be done. Let us rejoice and be glad. Hallelujah!
Amen! It is true that you know things: even before the foundation of the world. Your timeline.... the present, past and future belongs to you and you see the whole picture from your spiritual perspective.
