HIS Walk, Our Hope
How do we possess and show the true love of Christ? There are days that we are mindful of it and there are days that we forget it. This week our devotionals will focus on, "Manifestations of the True Love of Christ." Nevertheless the mandate and the challenge still exist. Hide this Word in your heart and may our Devotional Team inspire you to apply God’s Word!
SCRIPTURE: "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: as I have loved you, that you also love one another." John 13:34
SCRIPTURE: "Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil: does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away." 1 Corinthians 13:1-10

There is no need for faith in glory, no need for hope in glory, but there is always a place for the perfect in glory, and the perfect is love. "And now abide faith, hope, and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love." (1 Corinthians 13:13). There is no need for mortal language as commonly put or eloquently stated, nor need for prophecy in glory. No mysteries to be set out for knowledge or understanding, no further gains from faith, nor need for alms for the poor [poverty being done away] in glory. In glory, there is no calling for martyrdom or religious works short of it.
There is the presence of God in Christ without filter, before the glorified gaze of those He has chosen. There is Jesus, the substance and range of all holiness, and all love. There's Jesus, the perfect and Perfector. Our 'meanwhile' burden is to love one another, until the day of Christ Jesus' return. This is the welcomed burden of grace, for all who believe. Love. This is our core curriculum as we wait - Love.
Oh precious Love which raises me, and brings each trouble cure,
allow this one eternity, to enjoy evermore.
And while I wait with gaining gaze, surprise me with all grace,
until the day of perfect praise, beholding face to Face.
While mindful of the cross He bore, His weariness of flesh,
make stirred my every detail upon mercy's reach to bless.
Let all remembrance mark this heart upon the winding way,
until His call 'Come forth' is heard to herald glorious day.
I will to wait, as well to work, as His will has made clear,
to know His signature in me, a love which maketh dear.
And so to strive within the day, let His influence show,
and listening well, I pray to live as He before I go.
Set free, I flee, into the fields, that harvest brought about,
with hope the soul brought nearest me will hear beyond all doubt.
That such a one will have that change that Christ alone can bring,
to warm the heart of quiet stone enough to have it sing.
Prayer: Dear LORD-GOD, for that invisible work of my change from 'quiet stone' to heart of flesh, I thank You. And as Your love never fails, may the fruitfulness of my desiring, in kind, fail not, for the gift of love that I offer. Work with me, for I can be indifferent at times and hide the gift that grants me so much. Forgive me please. Quicken the needful within me Jesus, that is rightly fitted for someone You have drawn, and when the moment is ripe. LORD, give me clarity and awaken my courage to go, and to do. Amen.
