Don’t Worry About the Future
SCRIPTURE: “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38, 39
Every believer has to come to a resting place in our faith that our future, the sum total of our lives now and into eternity are in the Hands of God. One of the major thoughts to console us in this is that God made Himself to be the Eternal Father of all who believe on His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. No matter what we see. No matter what we feel. No matter what we think. Nothing will happen that is unknown or outside of God’s sovereign will.
Over and over again throughout the Scripture, God reaffirms the promises that our lives are more than just here and now, but they are assigned and kept for an eternal destiny. The present verses for our meditation speak to us conclusively and comprehensively that nothing shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Nothing means that there isn’t anything that exists in any form of existence, created or uncreated that has the ability, sufficiency, or power to separate us who believe from the plans He has set in place for His eternal purposes. This entire eighth chapter is full of proofs of how serious God is about the preservation of those who are now His through faith.
There have been days, and surely there will be days to come that our faith will be tried and tested in the affairs of life that oppose us, but it will require our faithfulness to believing in the faithfulness of our God to the promises He has given us. Remember, God’s promises to us were not earned by us, but have been given to us freely as an inheritance from our eternal Father through His Son (Ephesians 1:18), and they are ours to trust now as we live for Him.
Prayer: Father God, please open the eyes of our hearts so that we can see and know without a shadow of a doubt that there is nothing to worry about in the future plans You have made for us who believe. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!
