Anna Bears Witness to the Redeemer
After the birth of Christ, we hear the testimony of those who awaited His appearance. Can you imagine their response as they saw the Ancient of Days as a humbled babe?!

SCRIPTURE: “Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity; 37 and this woman was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. 38 And coming in that instant she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of Him to all those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem." Luke 2:36-38
Anna’s testimony screams consecration, devoutness, commitment, faithfulness. She was a widow for a number of years and instead of looking for a new beau, or a book club, etc.; she decided to solely commit her life to the things of God. Her desire was to give witness to Jesus, the Christ. She wanted to cause Hope in Christ; and make His work known.
Anna, only mentioned once in scripture, but her testimony is mighty for she exalted God, and she was deemed worth mentioning. Isn’t that what we should desire more than our own popularity? We should be inclined to choose to follow from the great cloud of witnesses. She was known for her burden for souls. She fasted, prayed, and proclaimed the Christ. For He would come as, a baby, and still be the almighty God; and He shall be Salvation for our sin. She had a testimony that she lived before men; she was known to glorify and honor the great King!
Prayer: Lord, thank You for our will especially when we choose to have a will that brings You good pleasure. As we live the chapters of life, help us to remember what counts; what lasts. Give us a burden for what you are burdened for...You’re not willing that any should perish; that all will come to a saving knowledge of Your Son. Help us not to get distracted but to remain steadfast...In Jesus’ Name-Amen!
