PRESERVATION OF OUR LORD’S TESTIMONY AMONG US: Proclaiming the Lord’s Message w/o Fear

This month the Devotions Ministry will focus on a prayer list that Pastor Wayne Cockrell created a few months ago for the Genesis Bible Fellowship Church Family. In this ministry of encouragement our writers will devote a week to one topic, and we pray that you will be blessed by their words of exhortation.
SCRIPTURE: Scripture:  "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, 9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began," 2 Timothy 1:7-9
Hear Ye! Hear Ye! The coming of the Lord is Nigh! Go out into the land and proclaim the word of the Lord for the coming of the Lord is Nigh! Hear Ye! Hear Ye did the town crier yet cry.

There was a time long ago when the news or anything important was announced by the town crier. Today, believers should be the town crier. Believers have been directed to go out into the world and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20). However, many times fear becomes the glue that binds our mouths. Fear often speaks for us saying, “Oh, I’m minding my business or “evangelism isn’t my gift”. Nonetheless, all believers have been directed to ring the bell and proclaim the testimony of the Lord. The believer does not have to be afraid to tell the story of the Lord because the Lord hasn’t given them a spirt of fear. Even when they have allowed fear to shut them up or when that fear has caused them to dim their light, they can be assured that that fear is not from the Lord.

To share the gospel, you don’t have to be a gifted speaker or a person with a large platform but instead just be light and salt. When the believer lives according to Christ, when the believer refuses to dim their light, when the believer makes the choice to stand firm on God’s word even when those all around are against them, they are preserving His testimony. As a believer, we must ring the bell and proclaim that Christ is Lord. As a believer, we must ring the bell and proclaim that Jesus is the way the truth and the life. As a believer, we must ring the bell and proclaim Christ by living our lives in such a way that the testimony of Christ is seen through us. His story should be the believer’s story and when the believer walks boldly in that truth the Lord’s testimony is preserved not just among other believers but non-believers too. So, go ye therefore (boldly, without fear) teaching all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: Lord, forgive us for being afraid to boldly without prejudice proclaim Your testimony. Forgive us for compromising because we want to be friends with the world. Lord, thank You for reminding us that we have the task of keeping Your testimony safe from those who want to pervert Your statues. Lord, strengthen us when we come up against those who are against You. Thank You for Your Word that reminds us, that we weren’t given a spirit of fear and such a spirit does not come from You. Fill us Father with Your spirit so that we can keep Your statues and proclaim Your testimony not just with words but by how we live. Thank you for Your Son, Jesus the Christ who died on the cross for our sins and rose so that we may live. In the name of Jesus, we pray, Amen.

Praise the Lord for your timely reminder, Sis. Pat! In a day when every (often godless) point of view is tolerated-except the gospel of Christ-we cannot sit down, quench the Spirit, & say nothing. AMEN!
