The Heartbeat of His Heart

Scripture: “ Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. 10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death. 11 For observe this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner: What diligence it produced in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things you proved yourselves to be clear in this matter.” 2 Corinthians 7:9-11
Repentance is not one of those words we throw around in our Christian lingo. We tend not to talk a lot about it, but you must understand that the expectation of it is just as real as the need to walk by faith. A child of God can walk by faith and not encounter times when the path of life that they are in requires that they turn from somethings. I don’t think that you can be for real with God and not encounter times when you find things in your life that requires you turn away from if you’re going to continue to walk in fellowship. So repentance is a very real issue in the Christian life. God is into reaching some of the most undesirable people-that’s His heart. His heart is not to demonstrate His love only in the comfort zones of people who say they love Him.   He is a God who takes risks everyday going into places where the most heathenistic, barbaric, evil working people and confront them with His message and He says, “REPENT!”

Before you point a finger at them, there are four more fingers pointing back at you. Do you need to repent?

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to see our need to agree with You about our sins. We want to repent, we want to turn away from doing those things that are displeasing to You.  Help us Lord! You said that we could come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Here we are, Lord, seeking your grace and mercy and help.
