Encouraging You in the New Year

Scripture: “And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk [c]properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.”  Romans 13:11-14
We thank God for the encouragement and the instruction He gives us concerning our fellowship with Him. Our hearts are humbled because He has put His finger of truth upon us. We are not always forthright in talking to God about what He already knows. This day I pray that the shackles will be broken. That those who are holding onto iniquity, as though they were hiding it from God, would be willing to set themselves free by confessing sin to Him. We’re beginning a new year and we thank God for it. We thank God that we can breathe in this New Year and no matter what’s going on in this world Jesus has given us the abiding hope that it’s going to be better.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we wait for the coming of the Lord, Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ and in that moment-in a twinkling of an eye, all shall be changed.  So we have that hope every day, and we thank You for that. Every day that we awaken, we have that promise that at any moment our Savior can come back and rapture us out of this world. Father, until that time comes, we want to humble ourselves under Your mighty hand. We want to walk under Your mighty hand of power, Your mighty hand of protection, Your mighty hand of provision. For You said if we would humble ourselves under Your mighty hand, You would exalt us in due time.  So this day, as we begin this year, we all with one accord want to start walking humbly under Your hand. We want to live in submission in surrender to You and we want to share ourselves openly.  We want to give our whole selves to You that You might do in us and through us what You will.  That You might have free course to guide us, to lead us, to use us, to bless us, to humble us, to chasten us, whatever seems right to You.  That’s the people we want to be, for we believe in Your purposes. We believe that what You say You are going to do, You are going to do! We believe that You desire to make us look like Your Son, and that’s what we want! We want to see a better us-a ‘us’ that looks like Your Son. So this day, as we members of Genesis and all of our friends, we as a people of God want You to walk with us in a way that shows the world Your light. You have made us light and You have called us to let our light so shine that people would behold our good works and they would glorify You. So this day we bow and this day we say, “Have Your way. Do with us what You will.”  We will give You praise, Lord God and we will give You thanks in Jesus name, Amen.
