The Act of Love
Scripture: Romans 8:38-39 – For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
If God is Love (I John 4:8c), then we could also capture the theme, “The Act of God”. Love is such a pure and phenomenal concept. It involves but is not limited to giving, sacrificing, submitting, and committing. God loves us with an everlasting love (Jer. 31:3 – said to Israelites - we, too are His people) and unconditional love (Rom 5:8, I Cor 13:4-7). His love is so vigorous, and powerful that it offers redemption to the entire world/universe. The Godhead developed a committed plan whereas, the only begotten Son (The Lord Jesus) would willingly submit His life by sacrificing Himself on a “rugged” cross for our sins. His death was atrocious and ugly (marred more than any man – Isa 52:14). He bolded His deity in that after death, He arose from the grave (with ALL POWER); He was seen by many; and He ever lives at the right hand of God making intercession for who? Yes, us. What!! You mean we have a God who is willing to go through all of this for us? For while we were yet in our sin, rolling in it (as a dog does in grass) with enjoyment, Christ did such a phenomenal work on our behalf. We were in no way worthy of Christ’s Divine Assignment (God’s love). Referring to our worthiness or the lack thereof infers that there was something we could have done to be owed this type of love. But that is just it…there is nothing in us, or about us that could have ever been elevated to meet or deserve this type of affection. Selah
Accepting and or receiving God’s love of redemption brings us to more facets of God’s loving character. We gain access to a relationship with Him. In this relationship, we experience His chase, His relentless pursuit. We are given the opportunity to know more of His Love as He Comforts, Delivers, Provides, Forgives, Keeps…Whether we are in a storm; just coming out of one or is about to go in one…Whether we have been rejected, have experienced an assault or even a loss…His love is before us to declare and embrace. His Word brings light to His promises and covenants promoting His infinite presence, protection, and provision. He commands us to pray always; He desires us to forever and always rely and depend upon His HAND of LOVE and GRACE in our lives. Oh, to embrace the Love of God!!!
Lord, I love to remember all you have done for me. Your intentional and perfect love is so peculiar and strange. There is none like You. Help us to submit, honor and trust You. For we are brought to our knees in awe of Your constant loving kindness. We Honor who You are and are forever thankful for all You give us to enjoy. Thank You as our, Master, Savior, Lord, and Friend…In Jesus’ Name-Amen
