STANDING IN VICTORY
Scripture: John 20:31 (NASB) - “ ….but these have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.”
Have you ever suspected that for many people the words of Scripture are merely lofty sounding words? Words that don’t ignite any enduring hope or powerful encouragement in their lives at all? To view God’s word as one’s necessary spiritual food, resulting in a more consistent victorious Christian walk, accompanied by obedience, of course, one must have personally embraced for themselves Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection on their behalf at Calvary’s cross— the place of victory. If one does not believe that Christ died to save them, they will not be indwelt by His Spirit, according to Romans 8:9. They will be considered “none of His.” Their life will be devoid of any spiritual power to live victoriously in Jesus!
Without the Spirit’s indwelling, the blessedness of obedience which is the “pathway to victory” will also be shrouded in mystery, though heard about often in a good Bible-believing and teaching church. It will be blotted out in an unreceptive heart!
What is the significance of these very basic reminders? If we do not heed the command of the above selected Scripture—I mean, let it be the prevailing mandate in every area of our own heart, in our faithfulness to our Savior, in our relationships with one another, and in our heart attitudes everywhere we go, then how shall we in Spirit-lead assurance face our Lord at that appointed day of accounting? (Rom. 14:12)
Prayer: Precious Lord, let these truths be brand new in my heart every single day. Reignite within me a renewed zeal to share the gospel boldly with others as Your Spirit leads me! Thank You, in Christ’s name; Amen!
