CANDIDATES AND LEADERS: Need Our Prayers

45 Days of Praying for the Elections-Day 16
SCRIPTURE: “You shall keep them, O Lord, You shall preserve them from this generation forever. 8 The wicked prowl on every side, when vileness is exalted among the sons of men.”  Psalms 12:7-8
Romans 13:1 says, “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.” Praise the Lord that we still live in a country with the freedom to choose our candidates and leaders, however that freedom is being challenged in ungodly ways.

II Tim.3:1 says, “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come.” Because this world is under the sway of the wicked one, he will forever try to usurp God’s plans, but our Sovereign God is still in full control, and no one is placed in a position of leadership that has not been ordained by God. Wickedness is abounding, but God still has those that have not bowed the knees to Baal.

We should continually pray for candidates, leaders, and their families (whether we agree with them or not) first for salvation and then for those who are believers to continue to stand on God’s Word. Only those who know the Lord as Savior can be anchored in Psalms 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” We are truly in tumultuous times, but the prayers of the saints continue to availeth much.

Prayer: Our Great God and Savior, we thank You for this season of being salt and light in a very dark world. As we trust Your sovereignty, may we be faithful in our duty of voting and praying for Your perfect will to be done for the candidates, leaders, and their families.
