I Must Be About God’s Word
SCRIPTURE: “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Joshua 1:8

Why does it seem like the devil always wins? The only thing the devil respects is the Word. Even the Son of God, the Word in flesh, used the Word, the written Word to stop the devil in his tracks. Now, If you don’t know this Word, you’ll probably get smacked around by the devil at will. In fact, if you don’t know this Word, he is smacking you around and you don’t even know that you have been smacked around. He (the devil) is smacking you around and you think that you are spiritual. Because the only thing he respects is the Word and when he shows up and you don’t have any, you don’t know any, that’s why he hangs around you.
Meditation is God’s way of lifting us up and letting us look in, giving us an inside view of what He is saying. Without it many of us live on a surface understanding and we miss the intent of God to take us deeper. It is not what the Bible means to me first, it is what does God mean when God said it. I must understand what God means before I can begin to adequately and accurately say what it means to me.
Meditation is God lifting us up to see, it is God’s way of giving us revelation or understanding. He raises us to see His mind. The natural mind cannot see the mind of God. The natural man cannot use his logic to figure out the particulars of what God is saying. Even though smart people think they know stuff. Even though God said, don’t lean on your own understanding, we say we’re smart! We don’t need to meditate; we can just take a verse and bring into it our own frame of reference and tell you what it means. Haven’t studied It, haven’t meditated on It, don’t have time to memorize it, and yet I can tell you what God means.
When Joshua went into the land, God told Joshua to meditate on this Word, day and night and when you do it, you to observe to do what It says. Meditation is not just so you can be smart, it is God giving you insight on what He means so you can understand what He wants you to do and when you do what I show you, you shall be successful!
Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, remind us today and everyday of the importance of us knowing Your Word. It is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path You have designed and decreed for us. Amen and amen.
