Sock Lint

SCRIPTURE: “And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.” [Colossians 3:15] NKJV
Are you, dear Christ follower, greatly comforted by the revelations of Himself that God has given in His Word? As the hymn says, “Jesus knows all about our struggles; He will guide til the day is done. There’s not a Friend like the lowly Jesus. No, not one, no, not one!” Researching the many attributes of His character, such as His holiness, faithfulness, sovereignty, pure justice, longsuffering, and righteousness—to name just a few-- is time well-spent. By contrast, how different (and frustrating) must be the experiences of those who may be regular “churchgoers,” but who futilely have a god of their own limited “design,” one they can “push around,” one who fits into a box of their own making! [Theirs, dear reader, is not the God of the Holy Bible]. The God of heaven, who bids all to come to Him and drink the water of life freely, tells us that He has grace sufficient to meet our every need (2 Cor. 12:9); but we must first consistently and wholeheartedly trust Him, rather than feign to do so, as do many who have “religion,” but no true relationship with Him.

Our omniscient El Roi [the God who SEES] KNOWS ALL that’s happening in this world--including every nook and cranny of your life and mine-- from the most miniscule things we’re nurturing within our hearts to the prevailing mentalities of those, high and low, positionally, who believe THEY’RE calling the shots! Along these lines, a good memory verse is Isaiah 40:28, 29. So, cast it ALL upon Him; He can handle it! Are you casting those cares today and taking every thought captive, making them obedient to Christ? If not, then start (or resume) doing so today—walking by faith, not by sight. You and I may not always be able to remove that stubborn lint off of those forementioned socks, but we are invited by our Lord and Savior to receive steadfast peace and inner strength in Him of whom it is written: “…with God, ALL things are possible.” (Matt. 19:26)

PRAYER: Dear Abba, help Your twice-born people to reckon those unsettling thoughts and temptations to worry as mere sock lint, which You, our omniscient Savior God, have plainly told us how to discard! Thank You, in Jesus’ name; amen! [Reference: Hymn writer of “No, Not One”: Johnson Oatman, Jr., 1895]

What a better season to let the peace of God rule in our hearts ... and be thankful, than the nearing tax deadline. [can I get an 'Amen'?]

And, no, sock lint is not tax-deductible!
