Don't Be Afraid - Be Obedient

Scripture:  Psalm 91:1 - He who abides in the shelter of the Most High, will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
Psalms  91:5 - You will not be afraid of the terror by night or of the arrow that flies by day.
Psalms 91:6 - Of the pestilence that stalls in darkness, or of the destruction that lays waste at noon.
Psalms 91 :10 - No evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your tent.
Ps 46:10a - Be still and know that I am God. This word of God seems to suggest that we should relax and to be obedient to the law of the land and He will protect us.
Proverbs 2:11 says Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you. If the governor for example has told us to wear a mask and gloves, stay home be wise. Do the right thing and the Lord will protect us who believe.  In our world today we are suffering such challenging situations such as viruses, the stock markets plummeting and senseless shootings, etc. It can be a very serious and scary time of life. The Lord has given us another day to do the right thing. The earth is full of disobedience, and that's why we have so much chaos going on today. If we, meaning man, believe that we are in control of things, the truth is we are sadly mistaken. We are not in control!

The Bible which is the word of God, makes it very clear. Ephesian 6:10 says - Finally be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. I remember back in 1996 when I had my first heart surgery. I didn't know anything about open heart surgery. I didn't know that it existed. All I knew is that I wasn't feeling well at all. I remember my doctor coming in to give me the report from the test taken earlier that morning. Well, it was bad news. My doctor talked to me about
the report and said because only eight percent of my heart was working. The team was afraid to do the surgery. Isaiah 53:1 says whose report are you listening to anyway --  man’s or Jesus’? Jesus! The doctor said there was nothing they could do. So I asked him if I was  going to die? He just dropped his eye level and walked out of the room. I became very afraid. He did say that they were going to medicate me, send me home. and I would be back in a few weeks This would continue until I passed away. I wasn't sure where I stood with the Lord at that time. I do know when the doctor left the room, I wasn't sure about what I was going to do. It seemed like I was watching a sad movie. So I laid there starring at the ceiling and I asked God is this how it's supposed to end for me? Lord what am I to do now? A voice said cry. I was like cry? I started thinking what good will that do? A different voice said to me pray. Well I started praying until I fell asleep. About four hours later I was awakened by a knock on my room door. I said come in. At least 30 doctors surrounded my bed. I heard this one doctor asking me with a thick accent -- Do you want to live?  I answered  -  yes. I realized that this was my prayer being answered. This doctor was a specialist who developed a technique just for people in my condition. He's Greek, and he spent six months in Greece teaching this technique, and the other six months in the US -- but he just happened to be in New York where I was. I was excited but still afraid. I never had major surgery before. So he told me that there was only six percent of my heart working, but he felt his technique would work  -- so we went through with the surgery, and it was successful. Thank you Jesus! Things began to change.

My point is this. Romans 3:24 says - Being justified as a gift by His Grace, through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus.  John 3:17 says For God did not send the son into the world to judge the world, but that the world through might be saved through him.  So trust in Him. Trust God and trust His word. Just like Proverbs 3:5-6 says - Trust him with all your heart and lean not on what you think you understand he will show you which way to go.

Prayer:   My Mighty God, King of Kings,  You are my Father who are in Heaven. Please forgive me if I am short of patience while waiting on You. I am asking You to bless me with patience -- for patience is a virtue leading to obedience. Amen.

Praise the Lord! What a powerful testimony of how clinging to faith, rather yielding to fear can bless us. The Lord hears our cries and He answers them when we abide in Him. Oh what a love He has for us who wait patiently on Him and trust Him. What a mighty God we serve. I thank Him for allowing you to be here to share this with us. God bless you Bro. Ray.
