My Weakness For His Strength

Galatians 2:20 -  I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

A banana tree is a very sturdy and resilient tree, and yet it looks very weak. As unbelievable as it may be, no fire or typhoon can kill a banana tree. Even if the banana tree was cut up into a hundred pieces, nothing can destroy a banana tree. The only way you can destroy a banana tree is to completely uproot it. Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

The world sees “strength” as a great character trait, yet God says that when you are weak then you are strong.  Being crucified with Christ brings an “otherness” in your life – His strength for your weakness, His peace for your discontentment, His hope for your emptiness.  Just as the banana tree, your Christian walk will be challenged with many trials and Satan’s intent is to steal, kill and destroy you. But being “in Christ” establishes and secures your roots in His victory for this life and for eternity.

You will become frustrated, discouraged and even sometimes feeling defeated on your journey, but remember the end of the story – you WIN!!  As you die daily to self, your weakness becomes His strength and His awesome life is experienced.

Prayer:  Lord, teach me to see weakness from Your perspective that I may experience Your strength in unimaginable ways. Yes Lord, less of me and more of Thee.

Amen. Loved the banana tree analogy.
