Learning Another Language

Scripture:  John 14:24 – He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.

I get excited about learning a second language; It is such a challenge.  Many years ago, in grade school, I had four consecutive years of French.  And even after those four years, I still had to be quite intentional to speak the other language.  God, in His infinite Wisdom has called us, who say we believe and trust Him, to a language of love.  Since birth, in our depravity we learn and master such ideas as, self-preservation, survival of the fittest.  If you don’t like me, then I don’t like you.  If you punch me; I will pop you, and so on and so forth.  But God’s language is just the opposite, and it does not involve what we feel.  God teaches us if someone hits one cheek, we are to give them the other (Luke 6:29).  He commands us -- deny yourself, forgive one another, love your enemies, and do good and lend, expecting nothing in return -- these are just a few.  Basically, when we are offended, we are not to speak the language of our past life, but we are expected to intentionally with a great heart speak and show forth God’s love language.  For when we obey His command to love, others will know we are His disciples (John 13:35).  He wants our obedience to override our own feelings and desires.  We can miss God mostly if we rely on our feelings.  We are to intentionally and relentlessly obey God and love.  We are to treat the one who has offended us in a way that they know they are respected.  We must change our language, our reaction, our perception, and yes, our response.  The more we make statements declaring our love for God, the more we are (should be) obeying Him.

Prayer:  Lord, we thank You, for Your language of love.  For it teaches us and show us Your ways; and how much we must depend upon You to please You.  Help us to grow to be forgiving people, all about Your will and purpose.  We thank You and know You are able to do all of what You have promised.  In Jesus’ Name-Amen!

Amen! The Lord tells us in Jeremiah 17: 5-8 that "Cursed is the man who trust in man and makes flesh his strength, but blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord." Who else need I put my hope and trust in. Thank you Lord.
