Are ya tellin me that GOD gave us a book?

Scripture: "THY WORD IS A LAMP UNTO MY FEET, AND A LIGHT UNTO MY PATH" Psalm 119:105
"I don't want no bible, mister."
That's how our little moment began, during a Gideon distribution of bibles. There he was, all sixty or so pounds of him, standing before me, as I managed the sharing of bibles with other folks nearing me. He might have been about 7 years old by appearances, and as best as I can recall his name was either Kevin or Keith, but for this, I choose Keith, because he lacked his two upper front teeth, and without constraint, he grinned broadly.
Now Keith continued to stand there, still grinning, while I kept busy with bibles, but after a minute, I began to wonder why he was still hanging around directly in front of me, grinning and not wanting a bible. Then he volunteered that he actually did want one. "I use to have one", he said, "but my mom took it away". Slightly flanking him, I suppose, to make sure he behaved was a woman later identified as an aunt, who gave supportive glances. Long story short, Keith left with his own bible, not surprisingly grinning as he left. That was probably 10 years ago, and I do not have an update on Keith, but the bible says this: "So shall my word be, that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, BUT IT SHALL ACCOMPLISH THAT WHICH I PLEASE, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." Because of what the bible has said [in Isaiah 55:11], I have confidence that Keith is doing okay. It is a reasonable hope to have, that Keith is saved.
It is important to remember how central the bible needs to be in the life of a believer, as instrumental in our having the right directions to take, and right orientation, pleasing to God. This is what is meant by it being a lamp unto our feet, and a light unto our path. Lit seeing provides knowing, and understanding, and is necessary to have a wisdom which walks right, despite the many confusing messages around us, as well as the pull of our innate waywardness. It is, as well, and primarily, that which informs us of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. With that, it is not just informative, but transforming at its best. It is a glorious book, and yes, God gave it.
It is the one resource that enlightens us with "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you SHALL be saved."
This we can count on, as a promise from God, and He is a promise keeper. Amen!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your indescribable gift, and Your Love which never fails. Help me to honor You with my choices today, and be a blessing to someone near, in Jesus' name. Amen.
