Seasoned Saints

Scripture:  Psalm 1:3 - He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

There is nothing like a saint that’s seasoned
Gracefully enduring life in divine sequence

We’ve seen a little bit of this, and a little bit of that
But, in all our days, Jesus always had our back

Lord, you’ve brought us a mighty long way
Chastened us, kept us, and prepared us for this day

Sure, we’ve experienced much pain, grief, and disappointments
Yet, we were kept by Your promises as His chosen and anointed

Even the days we’ve wandered with emptiness
Bold and lost in our sin without repentance

We can remember the times we resisted Your truth
We can remember the times evil was approved

Who knew we would have made it this far?
Who knew You would have changed our hearts?

We yearned a Savior, our lives were bland
Then, You seasoned us with Your Holy Hands

You elected us, protected us, and pruned us
You chastened us, loved us, and groomed us

Look at us now!

Seasoned Saints may have gained more wrinkles, weight and gray hairs
But, we’ve also acquired less trouble, less drama, and less cares

Surely, we may not be able to move the same, but we can move
We may not be able to get around as much, but we still can be used

Lord, you knew the world would need us
Our testimonies are the reason You seasoned us

We are qualified by the years with praise
Our developed and seasoned wisdom accumulated with age

So, Lord, continue to direct us in places that are unsalted
Our experiences and evidence will influence others to exalt Him

We are witnesses of the Lord, that’s not ashamed
There is nothing like testimony from a Seasoned Saint

That’s why this ministry is beyond a pity party for the old
Our years reveal God’s Grace through our wealthy and mature souls

Prayer:  Lord, allow others to see the value of the mature saint. They have been there and done that in so many ways. Use this ministry to persuade our youth and the inexperienced in Christ. Give them a platform to share their testimonies and the gospel. Let their wit, stories, and scars encourage our choices. Let their endurance become a hope for us. I lift this prayer in the name of Jesus, Amen!
