Standing On Business

SCRIPTURE:  “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 15:58
Standing on Business is a term that just means that a person stands firmly on what they said or what they believe. Today, young people say, “I stand ten toes down”. This and standing on business mean the same thing. It simply means that a person is not backing down. As believers, we should stand on business when it comes to Jesus and God’s word. Any challengers against Christ or God’s precepts should be met with strong truth. This doesn’t mean getting into arguments or physical fights, but it simply means to stand strong for the Lord. Don’t allow the world to sway you against God’s Word. As believers, we are to stand our ground even when the world says God’s way is wrong. Standing on business is not always easy especially when our friends live a lifestyle contrary to God’s ways. Standing on business is difficult because it may cause some people to distance themselves from you. Standing on business can be difficult because it can interfere with your sin. Standing on business can be difficult because our family and friends like to remind us when we were standing ten toes down for Satan.

When the world begins to push you in an attempt to have you falter you can rest securely on God’s Word. He has commanded us to be strong and courageous. To not be frightened or dismayed because He is with us wherever we go (Joshua 1:9). When society yells things like, ‘love is love’ or ‘the Bible doesn’t say marriage is between and a man and a woman,’ you stand firmly on what the Word of God says and remember that in the world you will have tribulation, but Christ has overcome the world (John 16:33). When your sins creep back into your mind and cause you sadness or even when you find yourself in a backslidden state remember that through Christ’s blood, we have redemption and the forgiveness of sins all in accordance with the riches of God’s grace (Ephesians 1:7). Based on the Lord’s faithfulness and Christ’s obedience unto the cross we can stand ten toes down for the Lord regardless of our past and even when fall short in the present.

PRAYER: On Christ the solid rock I stand all other ground is sinking sand. Dear Lord, thank You for the constant reminder that when we stand with You, we stand on fortified ground. Forgive us for not standing up for You. Thank You for Your patience with us when we fall short. Fortify our minds so that the changes in the world don’t affect our ability to stand firmly on Kingdom business even when it is unpopular. Thank You for Your Word that strengthens us. Thank You, Lord for Your Son Jesus the Christ who died for our sins and rose so we can have everlasting life. In Jesus name, Amen.
