THE CHURCH: The Church and Its Mission

45 Days of Praying for the Elections - DAY 21
SCRIPTURE: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.” Romans 1:16-17
Church is the place where the sick go to get healed. So many times, we forget that followers of Christ aren’t perfect they just serve a perfect God. The church is where when the world is looking the world should see God. Sadly, there are some churches that look like the world and bring forth a worldly word. Those churches care more about what the people say and not what God says. The glossing over of scriptures that speak loudly against sin has no place in the church. Becoming angry at your leaders for bringing the unadulterated Word of God to you speaks volumes to where you are spiritually. Those issues should be taken to the Lord in prayer. Conversely, it is okay to disagree with what is said, but it is those times that you go to the scripture, read it, pray about, and mediate over what is written.

As believers we are responsible for our behavior, we are responsible for how we represent Christ. And whether we agree with God or not, we should boldly say what He says, we should proudly live how He says live. I know, easier said than done, because God’s precepts mess with our sin, sometimes we think that they mess with our rights. However, as Believers we must remember that the Word of the Lord is right and true; He is faithful in all He does (Ps 33:4-6).

Prayer: Dear Lord, forgive us for faltering when it comes to standing firmly on Your precepts. Forgive us for turning away from Your laws because we believe they are outdated. Remind us that we are to stand up for Christ against world opinion and He will stand up for us before the You in heaven (Matthew 10:32-33). Help us Lord to be strong and courageous pushing fear and discouragement to the side (Joshua 1:9). When we disagree with Your Word, open our hearts and mind to Your truth so that we can stand with You. Thank you, Lord for grace and mercy. Thank You, for Your Son, Jesus the Christ who died for our sins. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
