Breaking News 'JESUS IS RISEN'
SCRIPTURE: "Praise GOD, everybody! Applaud GOD, all people! His love has taken over our lives; GOD's faithful ways are eternal. Hallelujah!" Psalm 117:1,2 The Message

That's right, 'Wake up, get up, an' Praise God all of y'all, and y'all too! Praise HIM for His faithfulness prevails over us, and the truth of the Lord is everlasting. Praise the Lord!' [paraphrased Psalm 117]
Now is the time for this to be our singular voice in the face of all jockeying for political positions and influence, coupled with a conversation that is rooted and anchored in God's word while discerning policies, and the vote that anchors to what's better for this national, and local community. Make it impossible for leaders to not take heed! Spread the 'Good News'! Pray it! Say it! Go all the way with it! In Jesus' holy name! Hallelujah!
In the middle of the guts of the Bible is the shortest psalm, which in essence is a call for worship, and praise, and unapologetic faithfulness which dares to be personal, as well as public. Bless God! This Psalm would [borrowing from basketball] have us 'take the shot' wherever conversations unfold... to 'let go and let God.' This Psalm would encourage us to 'trust and obey', and to 'lean not on our own understanding.' Live like "God's faithful ways are eternal" and now!
After forty days of having Goliath in their ear, only one came forth from the men of Israel to meet the challenge, young David, the shepherd and armor-bearer for Saul. While everyone else figuratively and literally retreated from the big threat of Goliath, David said "...who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should taunt the armies of the living God?" [1 Samuel 17:26] He was not impressed with his size, his history, his noise, his weapons, or his skills. He only noted that Goliath was outside of God's favor, not having been circumcised. That was enough to know. Game on! David said, "You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted." [v.45] You know the rest. [v.46-58]
This is holy boldness. While a 'Goliath' as such may not be in our lane, certainly living the Christian life outwardly will bring some confrontation. It may bring hard consequences. Be bold saints. Let your banner boast the name of Jesus, and stand. In the midst of other saints be an encouragement, speaking the truth in love. "Be of good courage and He will strengthen your hearts all ye who hope in the Lord..." Psalm 31:24
Prayer: Dear Lord, we see a national community in a desperate way. Within it is a light for the challenging of darkness, your gospel-toting body of believers, the church. But our voice is often faint, divided, and misinformed, and our influence is waning. A wanting world has its conversations, and we are curiously ineffective in it, if not outright silent, but for a few. Arouse us upon your gospel that we might bring it, and watch the in-reaching of the holy word. Dearest Lord help us to reach those whom You love and put into our path, that they might find life in You. May the church be 'the Church', especially in the face of leadership change as this election season warrants our highest stewardship. Quicken our discernment, and stir our daring for the sake of many futures. This we ask in Jesus' name, and may God get the glory due Him for all souls brought to newness. Amen. And let each vote exceed being thoughtful. Amen. Let each vote be more than 'careful'. Amen. Expose all misinformation, and push for truth! Amen! In the sight of the world Lord let these elections and all processes preceding them be sanctified! Hallelujah and Amen! The kingdom of God is at hand! Amen! "Now unto the King Eternal, immortal, invisible, the one wise God, be honor and glory forever!" Yes, forever! Amen.
