CAUTION: WATCH YOUR STEP [Part 2]

Our Genesis Bible Fellowship Youth and Young Adults (Gen. B.FY) are getting caught up on their devotionals. In the mean time our Sis. Denise Diggs has penned part 2 of a spiritual shot in the arm just for you!
SCRIPTURE: Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.” Galatians 6:1 NKJV
This two-part devotional could just as easily been titled, “Proceed With Caution,” because that is exactly what the title verse strongly asserts. In continuing to ponder the “how” of initiating this challenging biblical precept, remember that you the confronter must necessarily possess a clearly recognizable gentleness and humility as you do so. [See James 3:13]. (#2) The confronting believer must make sure they’re not violating Matthew 7:4, by walking around with a spiritual plank or two in their own eye while correcting others! Finally, #3, recall that the Spirit-filled believer can only be thusly described because they are committed to remaining diligent in avoiding plummets down the same “temptation mountains” themselves! [This happens more often than we might think when Christ followers thoughtlessly confront others without being totally subjected to the Spirit’s control and fail to exercise their own powers of discernment.

Given these prerequisites for obeying Galatians 6:1, we can certainly understand how easily such exchanges can quickly go sideways, causing unnecessary friction, headaches and, yes, multiple layers of DISUNITY—to the enemy’s delight! When dissension arises among believers not totally submitted to the Spirit’s control, it is a blessed thing to observe how one possessing a consistently meek and gentle spirit can nip the dissension in the bud and restore Christ-honoring peace and harmony!

Prayer: Gracious and merciful Father, help us to make it our holy ambition to consistently strive toward spiritual maturity, being willing and capable of digesting solid spiritual food, while making a true and lasting impact in Your kingdom on this earth! In Christ’s glorious name we thank You—amen!
