May I Have an Order of Wisdom, Please?

Let’s be clear, every Christian grounded in the Word of God wants his fellow believers to have an intimate awareness of our Savior and grow with a deeper understanding of Him. Saints, we were saved to grow and this week our Devotional team addresses the topic of “Wisdom and Spiritual Understanding from God” taken from a beloved portion of scripture in Colossians 1. Once again, learn these verses and keep them in your pocket, because when you pray the Holy Spirit will bring this verse back to your remembrance, whatsoever He has said unto you.
SCRIPTURE:  For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God…”   Colossians 1:9, 10 NKJV
“A wise old owl sat in an oak; the more he saw the less he spoke; the less he spoke the more he heard; let’s try to imitate that bird.” Wisdom – the process of discernment in which choices are weighted and alternatives judged and for the believer those choices should be aligned with God’s purposes and desires. James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

Wisdom is found in Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and some Psalms that give us very practical passages that offer spiritual insight to make wise instead of foolish choices. As a Kingdom disciple growing in the knowledge of Christ, we must come in faith and not continue to be double-minded. Proverbs 2:6 says, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding” and Proverbs 2:10-11 says “When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul. Discretion will preserve you; understanding will keep you.” A life of purpose, healthy relationships, and just pleasing God is experienced by the one that matures in wisdom. Words of wisdom can encourage us to move forward even if we are bleeding from the truth.

Prayer: Oh, Lord may I be quick to hear and slow to speak! May I continually grow in becoming a doer of the Word and not a hearer only! Your way and Your will be done!!

Amen for such a fine and focused encouragement. Thank You Holy Spirit for what you bring through us, for us... all to Your own glory. Let the church say 'Amen' and 'Owl-righty, then'.
