God’s Desire Among His People

Of late there have been some controversial, brow raising, anti-biblical statements made by several individuals in our places of employment, in the media, even in pulpits across America. What are we supposed to do with all of that? This week our devotional team tackles the topic, “Noting of Divisive People.” Saints, commit this scripture to memory, prepare to be encouraged, and be ye ready to give an answer to anyone who asks for a reason of hope that is in you with meekness and fear!
SCRIPTURE: "Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them." Romans 16:17
Jude 17-18 says “But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ: how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts.” False teachers or divisive individuals using flattering speech to gain advantage – in the church, in the media, in the government, in the family, etc. Our God desires peace and harmony especially among His people not division. Only God will one day separate the wheat from the tares.

Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” I must guard my heart which includes my mind, emotions and will – what is said to me, what I see and what is done. As I interact in a world of darkness and light there will be those who the Bible tells me to note or mark them because they speak or teach that which is contrary to God’s Word. We must deliberately choose God’s truth and conviction over compromise even if it offends. God’s ways are for our good and His glory.

Prayer: Thank You Holy Spirit for living in a heart that is prone to wander, but desires to yield in a spirit of obedience that Your will be done. Quicken my spirit to be able to discern any divisiveness from the flesh or people that would challenge Your Word.
