The Front Windshield is Much Bigger than the Rearview Mirror

From time to time our foolish choices or the unconscionable thing/s we once did in our past, rise up to remind and torment us. Don’t stay there too long, the enemy of our souls would love to see us cast down and disquieted. So this week our scripture and the Devotional Team will bring encouragement from the topic, “Freedom from Past Failures and Offenses.”
SCRIPTURE: “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14
In consideration of my worldly journey, I’ve convinced myself I’ve arrived,
In consideration of my spiritual journey, I have a long way to go to be worthy of a prize.

For so long I carried the weights of my past,
I assumed that my sin issues would forever haunt me and last.

As I attempted to move forward, I was often reminded of my vices and iniquities,
Discouraged initially by not trusting the Lord’s grace, mercy, and sympathy.

My mindset and disposition were consumed with being unfit and unjustified,
I simply struggled with leaving my offenses, my victims, and my guilt behind.

However, I began to consider the reasons the Lord promised to make me new,
He wanted my testimony for His glory to reflect how I was restored and renewed.

I’ve realized the prize requires obedience and discipline with a prayed-upon effort,
This involves reaching and pressing for His rewards according to biblical methods.

After all, I am called by the Lord to fulfill my ordered steps,
To walk freely in the Spirit, past failures cannot be a stronghold or accepted.

Therefore, I am reaching and pressing upward to obtain the Lord’s divine goals,
The front windshield is much bigger than the rearview mirror to see what He is going to unfold.

Prayer: Lord, You brought me down so that you could bring me up. You caused me to see where I was compared to what You expected. Thank You for Your faithfulness and patience. You are allowing me to dismiss the burden, guilt, and grief of my past failures. Now, I can experience what You have for me freely. I am forever grateful in the matchless name of Jesus.

Amen, 🙏🏾

Thank You God for turning it around! For turning death into everlasting life, the old creature into new, bondage into freedom, and sadness into joy.
