We Have it All

Our last Devotional on “The Holy Spirit’s Control” is sure to encourage you!
SCRIPTURE: "And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit," Ephesians 5:18
SCRIPTURE:  "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit." Galatians 5:22-23, 25
Saints, one thing about growing older is that reckless adventures are whacked; they are just out of the question! I want safety, and assurance that all needs are met or are in reach of being obtained. Yes, I want to take advantage of every benefit offered. As we mature in Christ, the same is true. In Galatians 5, we are commanded to walk in the Spirit; and if we do, we will not fulfill the (reckless/disorderly) lust of the flesh. Right there, God lets us know He is serious about our conduct, safety and yes, our well-being on this side of life. The Holy Spirit is, yet another God-given gift, yes, provision to ensure our alignment with His Word. He has given us all the tools to not just survive, but to thrive and settle into our victory.

Let’s review some other benefits in allowing God, the Holy Spirit, to control us. Acts 2:38 says we will understand to repent (possess the keen awareness of its necessity-1st John 1:9) and receive Jesus. Romans 8:26 teaches how He will make intercession for us. Acts 1:8 says we will have power to be witnesses. Isaiah 11:2 says we will gain wisdom and understanding so that we will fear the LORD. John 14:26 says He will teach us all things and remind us of Jesus’ directives. Judges 3 exemplifies how He, the Holy Spirit, will lead God’s people to victory in the time of war and Galatians 5:22 (mentioned above), reports how we will produce fruit of His Light and Righteousness.

There are so many other verses which reveal just how faithful the Spirit of God is in directing us to the best life practices, and fellowship with Christ Jesus, our Lord. We have this allegiance to our Abba Father. We desire to make Him proud and accomplish the “good work” (Ephesians 2) He has assigned us. He has given us everything in His Word to ensure we have good success (Joshua 1:8). Therefore, let us make it our aim to be intentional, yes, diligent to be obedient and allow God, the Holy Spirit, to lead us into His abounding, immeasurable love, mercy, fellowship, liberty...on this side of eternity!

Prayer:
Lord, You have given us Your all! Help us to give You our all. We understand now that we can do nothing without You; but with You, we can accomplish Your intents and purposes. We thank You, God for Your Word, Your Spirit, which are our precious gifts and great provisions to forever practice our fellowship with You. In Jesus’ Name-Amen!
