A Work in Progress and A Mouth in Training

We begin a new week of Devotionals focused on Rejection of Gossip, Slander, Lies and Discord. Sounds salacious, right? In these next 7 days allow your hearts to be ministered to by these challenging devotionals and make it your aim to commit this scripture to memory and to live by it!
SCRIPTURE: “These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: 17 A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, 19 A false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.” Proverbs 6:16-19
All believers are in an Extreme Makeover Edition of the heart. Therefore, because God has not finished with us yet in this growth of sanctification, we need to continue to learn to be provokers of love and good works through words of life. Proverbs 18:21 says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”

Prov. 6:16-19 says "These six things the LORD hates; yes , seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren." These seven things are an abomination to the Lord and are attitudes of the heart that are displayed through the tongue. Therefore, God says in Proverbs 13:3, “Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide his lips come to ruin" and Prov.12:18 says "There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, but the tongue of the wise promotes health." May we seek God’s forgiveness and cleansing if this is a mouth problem because out of the heart the mouth speaks.

Prayer: O Lord You said “that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words, you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matt. 12:36-37 Break my heart for whatever breaks Yours!!

Powerful motivation to repent & cleanse our hearts. Thank you, Sis. Cheryl! (Heb. 4:13; Matt. 10:26—great meditation verses, too.) 🙌🏽
