Seeing Things God’s Way

SCRIPTURE: "But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night." Psalm 1:2
Getting the most that God intends from His word is more than an intellectual exercise of reading over His Words. The blessed life of Psalm 1 depends upon the degree to which I see matters from the divine perspective and then live in accordance to what God has enabled me to see. The success in the blessed life cannot be obtained nor sustained without seeing life as God sees it for us. Getting saved to live a new life unto God, but thinking the old way is a conflicting and miserable journey for professing Christians. The solution to seeing the path of the blessed life comes from the meditation upon God’s word.

The greatest benefits from meditation upon God’s word begins with an attitude toward the Word, which the Psalmist calls “delight”. This attitude has everything to do with my sincere desire for it because of its value to the meaning and purpose of a successful life in the eyes of the God whom the Psalmist loves. He not only believes what God has to say, but he believes with an anticipation and expectation that the promised benefits will come to past according to what God says to those that meditate on the Word. Our attitude toward the Word is an indicator of the true feelings toward the personal relationship we have with God.

All of the benefits of the Psalm depends upon the discipline of meditating upon the Word. The discipline of it, “day and night”. It is the same promise that was given to Joshua as a promise of success and blessing when Israel was about to go into the promise land to receive all the fruits of God’s grace in the land of Canaan. The process of meditation makes the Word of God very personal to His people. What God is revealing to us in our hearts and through our minds goes all the way down to the deepest regions of our being and it is designed to stay with us and become a part of us just like food does in the human body. The Word becomes us and we become the Word. It is an internal miraculous working of the Word that intimately unfolds in us an understanding from God that is deeper in our heart. Hebrews 4:12 says that it goes down piercing even to the dividing asunder of the soul and spirit, and goes all the way down to the bone and the marrow and the joints and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. It is a miraculous working interaction that only God can do with the heart that is open and desirous for Him.

The Hebrew word “siyach” means to ponder upon what God has said over and over as if we are speaking it ourselves. Having and internal conversation with the Word we put in us. This is where God truly speaks to us from the Word in our hearts.

Prayer: Father in heaven, forgive me for missing so great a benefit and privilege of meditating upon Your Word. Please teach me, how to delight myself into what You say. It is the miracle I want in my heart so that I can hear You in the deepest and most personal way. In Jesus Name, Amen.
