Peace When We Do Right

If God did not declare war to redeem us from the clutches of our depravity expressed through the actions of the flesh, none of us would have ever been saved and empowered to live righteously according to His Word and the empowerment of His Spirit. The fallen nature expressed through our fallen nature has been trapped by darkness and death and causes us to war against God’s righteous authority that brings light and accountability before us. Once we are saved through faith in Christ we not only have become different and separate by nature unto God from those who still love to live in darkness, but our new nature indwelled by God’s Spirit has now bought us to the reality that I still have a nagging tension to do what I want as oppose to what God wants. Many might see this as a negative thing, but the good news is that the struggle and resistance of your fleshly orientation to your new nature indwelled by the Holy Spirit of God is a good thing. It is the very proof you are brand new in your heart and the new life, new freedom, and the new empowerment of God’s nature has become ours.

The above verses under our meditation are full of assurances and proofs that declare we are now children of God, but it also expressly says that there is a defining truth about what our new motive should be for living this new life as God’s true child. It is that we have the authority and desire to want to choose pleasing God. When we obey that empowered choice it should bring us peace in our heart. Do you see this change in your attitude to please God? Does the resistance to God’s authority still win and there is not grief? Do you see more and more the want-to-do-rights in your life to please God and it makes you joyful? True children share a nature that cannot be at peace while in war against God.

Prayer: I am so glad my God, You have made me a true child through faith in the salvation granted to all who have believed the testimony of Your Son. Forgive us this day for the battles with our flesh that we may have lost. Thank You for forgiveness and another chance to please You.
