Christ Born of Mary: Joseph’s Secret

In the days leading to Christmas and the New Year let us focus on the coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. While many debate the actual date of our Savior’s birth, we rejoice that he has come, just as our Father said He would! So as we leave those details aside for men to grapple with, let us focus on the miracle and the fulfillment of Jesus' birth!
SCRIPTURE: "Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. 20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:18-21
Engagement then marriage is the blending of two personalities and families. How precious was God’s plan from the beginning of joining one man and woman. According to Jewish law there was to be no physical intimacy during this one year engagement period. Breaking this law would result in the penalty of death upon the couple or under some circumstances, the engagement could be broken by a bill of divorcement. Happy Joseph became heartbroken Joseph until God showed up.

The “I Am that I Am,” the “Sovereign Holy Creator God” had a plan that excluded the human man and his function for the Holy One and His divine redemption plan. Mary was to bring forth a Son and His name was to be called JESUS – Immanuel – God with us. Yes, Joseph and Mary had been chosen in eternity past for this glorious Virgin Birth assignment and all of its challenges and they each obeyed the impossible to experience the possible. Hallelujah!!!

Prayer: Jesus, God’s Eternal Son, I praise and exalt Your Holy Name for such Awesome wisdom in You plans and ways. Truly You are Unique and whatever Your soul has desired that You have done. I am humbled by the power and authority of the Gospel. Thank You for including me.

None of us would have written the Savior's coming this way. When we unfold this story there are so many layers, but before I go too deep, God said it, I beleive it, case closed. Amen. Sis. Cheryl.
