PROPHECIES OF JESUS’ BIRTH: The Messiah Would be Born of a Virgin

The Birth of Jesus Christ occurs in the New Testament, but its prophetic origins can be found in several passages of the Old Testament. Through the month of December our Devotional Team will take a look at Old Testament Prophecy and the New Testament Fulfillment of the birth and life of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Be encouraged as we celebrate our Savior this Christmas Season!
SCRIPTURES:
OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECY: Isaiah 7:14
Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.

NEW TESTAMENT FULFILLMENT: Luke 1:26, 27, Matthew 1:23
Luke 1:26, 27
Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.

Matthew 1:23
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
Fellowship with God was broken in the garden when Eve made a choice to disobey God’s perfect will. Thus, the first Adam listened to his wife and plunged the world into sin and death. But, hallelujah, in the process of time God had chosen another woman Mary. She chose to experience the shame of sin and through the declaration of her faith in the Old Testament prophecy she became the virgin who would bring forth a Son and call His Name Immanuel.
How incomprehensible that she would be the chosen vessel that the Holy Spirit would overshadow and the second Adam – Jesus would be born. What marvelous faith in light of the tremendous personal cost she made that brought salvation and hope to a dying world.

Prayer: Lord, You chose to come to actually dwell in these temples of clay. Thank You for such love. There is no cost greater than the cost of your death, burial, and glorious resurrection. May we be willing to pay whatever the cost to know You experientially and make You known. Hallelujah – even so come Lord Jesus!!!

Amen, Sister Torain. God's perfect plan to bring forth His only begotten Son, to an imperfect world of sinful people. Thank you, Lord.
