PROPHECIES OF JESUS’ BIRTH: The Messiah Would be Born in Bethlehem.

The Birth of Jesus Christ occurs in the New Testament, but its prophetic origins can be found in several passages of the Old Testament. Through the month of December our Devotional Team will take a look at Old Testament Prophecy and the New Testament Fulfillment of the birth and life of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Be encouraged as we celebrate our Savior this Christmas Season!
SCRIPTURES:
OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECY: Micah 5:2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.”

NEW TESTAMENT FULFILLMENT:
Luke 2:4, 5, 7 Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David; 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

John 7:41-42 But some said, “Will the Christ come out of Galilee? 42 Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the town of Bethlehem, where David was?”
I can look behind me, see the past, and thus understand my future’s cast.
I can look behind me, believe what was said, and relate it to the Word that I read.
I can look behind me, hear of a Child to be born, born lowly but as a King adorned.
I can look ahead and joyfully sing of a small town uplifted to receive a King.
I can look ahead at prophecies said, and then revealed, about a Child whose fate before
time was sealed.
I can look ahead and rejoice about favor that was sealed by a Child who would become
the Savior.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for Your Word that spoke of what was to come and what did come. Thank you for giving believers proof that they can stand firmly on. Thank you for sending Christ in the most vulnerable form ever to save an undeserving world. Lord, as the world prepares to celebrate the birth of Christ let believers share the real reason for the season. Help us, Lord, to not get caught up in the hoopla and commercialization of Christmas. Help us in this season of giving to let our light so shine so others will see the Christ in us and desire to come to know the saving grace of Christ. Thank you Lord for giving the world the greatest gift of all, Your Son, Jesus the Christ. In the matchless name of Jesus, Amen.

My goodness, how many places in the Scriptures was it prophesied that the Messiah would come? All the clues/breadcrumbs/ prophecy was there pointing to our Savior. May Israel come to know You as Savior! Thanks Sis. Pat!
