PROPHECIES OF JESUS’ BIRTH: The Messiah Would be Anointed and Eternal

The Birth of Jesus Christ occurs in the New Testament, but its prophetic origins can be found in several passages of the Old Testament. Through the month of December our Devotional Team will take a look at Old Testament Prophecy and the New Testament Fulfillment of the birth and life of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!  Be encouraged as we celebrate our Savior this Christmas Season!
SCRIPTURES:
OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECY: Psalm 45:6, 7: 102:25-27
Psalm 45:6-7  Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. 7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions.

Psalm 102:25-27 Of old You laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands. 26 They will perish, but You will endure; Yes, they will all grow old like a garment; Like a cloak You will change them, and they will be changed. 27 But You are the same, and Your years will have no end.

NEW TESTAMENT FULFILLMENT: Hebrews 1:8-9, 1:10-12
 But to the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of  righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. 9 You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.”

Hebrews 1:10-12
And: “You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands. 11 They will perish, but You remain; and they will all grow old like a garment; 12 Like a cloak You will fold them up, and they will be changed. But You are the same, and Your years will not fail.”
Proven Predictions for Our Faith

An eternal throne is worthy of a scepter of righteousness for the Lord’s kingdom,
A place that will exemplify righteousness and address wickedness through the prophesized Messiah’s dominion;

Eternity has always existed, yet You chose to prepare a place to exhibit Your glory,
The earth and heavens began from Your hands for the sake of a prophesied history;

The anointed One appointed by God Himself will come and He will have no end,
Teaching through His Spirit, word, and ordinance, while sacrificing and dying for our sins;

The Old Testament prophesied a birth, and in the New Testament a birth was fulfilled,
Through the promise of God and the faith of Abraham, a nation was prepared and built;

So, as we consider our personal challenges, discouragement, and hopelessness today,
We must be tied to God’s promises and our faith will shine forth the birth of His way;

No matter the feet, no matter the struggle, and no matter what’s physically shown,
The Messiah forever reigns because the scriptures from the very beginning says so;

Therefore, it’s a living word that’s proven by God’s prophecies and fulfillments,
We can trust and depend on its truth to provide assurance, wisdom, and encouragement;

The Bible says, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away,"
Because of the prophecy and fulfillment of Jesus Christ, His birth, and resurrection are our only hope today.

Prayer: What a God we serve! As I read and meditate on the details of what was being prepared on my behalf is overwhelming. All had to be true or not true at all. The accounts of what was said is going to happen, happened. I applied this to myself when I first got saved. You told me that You would make me a new creation in 2 Corinthians 5:17. Thank You Lord for providing the promises we can depend on. Thank You for the ultimate prophecy through Your only begotten Son. I lift this prayer in the name of Jesus.
