PROPHECIES OF JESUS’ BIRTH: The Messiah Would Be an Heir to The Throne of David

The Birth of Jesus Christ occurs in the New Testament, but its prophetic origins can be found in several passages of the Old Testament. Through the month of December our Devotional Team will take a look at Old Testament Prophecy and the New Testament Fulfillment of the birth and life of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Be encouraged as we celebrate our Savior this Christmas Season!
SCRIPTURES:
OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECY: Isaiah 9:7
Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end,  upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

NEW TESTAMENT FULFILLMENT: Luke 1:26-27, 30-32
Luke 1:26-27 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.
Luke 1: 31-32 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.
God’s authority is praised when we realize what He said has come to pass. His Perfect Will, will be done EMPHATICALLY; His plan and purpose are set; and we have and or will recognize His love, peace, and His everlasting order.

Before time, God chose us. We were the apple of His Eye. But how could He, the Holy God have relationship with fallen man. The all-wise God chose His Son to be the escape, our deliverer; For He would save His people (us) from their sins.

Yes, Jesus the Christ accepted that horrifying role; for only His death could satisfy the holy demands of the Father that were against man. What a Love! The Father determined we (literally the “dirt of the earth”) were worth His Righteous Son’s Great sacrifice.

God the Son in accepting this assignment would, of course, stay God, but He would also have humanity. Mary, a mere woman of Nazareth, was chosen and deemed blessed, even favored of God to be the vehicle by which He would come to earth as a man. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph; he was an heir in the line of King David. Mary, a virgin would miraculously conceive, and she and Joseph would be parents to Jesus and ensure God’s plan of salvation (to the whole world) be fulfilled. Hallelujah!

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your Plans and Promises. They give us HOPE! They prosper us and remind us of Your amazing grace and undeniable mercy. Even in our own assignments, we see Your Provision and Your unfailing Love through the fulfillment of Your Word. Thank You! In Jesus’ Name-Amen!

Amen, thanks Sis. Lisa! One thing is for sure, “The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.” The New Living Translation says it this way, “The passionate commitment of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!” I like that!!!! THANKS AGAIN MY SISTER!

Our GOD is a promise keeper, and that we can celebrate, knowing that of both prophecy and promise we have a sure word. What a blessed assurance.
