PROTECTION FOR SCATTERED MEMBERS: The Physical Body vs The Body of Christ
We wind down this week with devotionals centered around the theme PROTECTION OF SCATTERED MEMBERS. Enjoy what our team has developed for your spiritual edification and challenge!
SCRIPTURE: “that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another.” 1 Corinthians 12:25
The body functions much better with all parts working together,
The body of Christ is called to bring glory to Kingdom endeavors;
The human body is composed of many parts, yet each function is different,
The body of Christ has many members, yet operate according to their giftedness;
When the members of either body abandon its responsibility and calling,
It starts deteriorating, isolating, weakening, dividing, conforming, or harming;
Today, we are in a society where body parts are detached from Jesus Christ,
Adopting cultural ways, religions, opinions, and emotional stances as a way of life;
Me, myself, and I have become the focus, emphasis, and priority,
No longer is it, ‘thus says the Lord,’ the Body has chosen to follow the majority;
So, the leg can’t find the feet, and the arms can’t find the hands,
Spiritual gifts are used more for the world, rather than Kingdom demands;
The chest can’t find its heart and the head can’t find its brain,
Churches are led by personalities and false teaching while mocking Jesus’s name;
Our skin, organs, or lungs are examples of body parts that perform, protect, or complete a job,
The source that does it all in the Body of Christ is found in the power of His blood;
Praying for wisdom and discernment for what needs to go or stay,
Refusing to allow my truth to overshadow God’s truth or get in the way;
In order for the physical body to be effective, it must maintain checkups and appointments,
In order for the Body of Christ to be effective, it must rely on the Holy Spirit to activate its anointing;
Continuously seeking well prepared food for the nourishment of the body,
While the Body of Christ has food for the soul that’s available for everybody;
Therefore, the ultimate difference is the outward body will eventually waste away,
While the Body of Christ relishes on eternity as our inward is being renewed day by day;
So, we are calling the Body of Christ individually for the sake of others,
Depending on each member collectively for the sake of the Kingdom and care for one another.
Prayer: Lord, the Body of Christ appears to have lost the way. We have allowed the culture to dictate what we do, what we believe, and what we say. Knowingly, there is only one truth, one way, and one life. Have mercy on us Father. Continue to be faithful and patient with us. You are worthy of so much praise. Please don’t give us what we truly deserve. You are our head. We are the body. You made us different for the purpose of uniting together. Yet, we are failing. We understand that You will fulfill Your perfect will with us or without us. Redirect us! Renew us! We lift our hands in the matchless name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
