RETURN OF DRIFTING SAINTS: Welcome Home

The theme for this week’s Devotional is Return of Drifting Saints. Prior to Covid the American Church saw a drop in attendance. Post Covid and the pandemic has kept a sizeable number of saints away from church. Our Devotional team shares testimonies and encouragement from God’s Word to stir up the return of love and good works.
SCRIPTURE:   "Thou shalt therefore obey the voice of the LORD thy God and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day." Deuteronomy 27:10
"And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him." Luke 15:20
When you have made up your mind to return from the pit; to change your mind, to repent, and
return to the Lord’s way; there are benefits. These benefits are usually greatly desired; and directly related to being “in Christ”, our ark of safety. There is fellowship versus estrangement and or isolation; there is humility versus hypocrisy; there is abundant life versus failure,
degradation and or stagnation.

When we have drifted, we usually come to ourselves with a greater sensitivity to the things of
God. We embrace and appreciate the commandments and disciplines presented in the Scriptures. We value and understand our “privilege” of having a close and intimate relationship
with the Lord. Aligning ourselves with these concepts of the faith we guarantee eternal
measures of safety and God’s divine favor.

Look with me at the Gospel of Luke 15, the Prodigal son temporarily sought after the things of
this world. He ultimately learned principles of humility, repentance, and honoring the Father. It
was not until he walked away from his former pleasures (of home life) and landed in a pigpen
that he purposed to humble himself and return to the life he once knew, where he experienced
fellowship, security and great abundance. Yes, at home with His Father!

Prayer: Lord, we thank You for the experiences of coming to the end of ourselves and realizing that You are “right there” awaiting our return; yes, our repentance. Lord we want to live like we know You, fear You, and love You. Help us to taste and see that You are good; and there is nothing and no one greater than You, Oh Lord. Thank You for the abundance of Your presence,
provision, and protection (at home with You) when and where we align ourselves with what
brings You pleasure and accomplishes Your will and glory...In Jesus’ Name - Amen!
