RETURN OF DRIFTING SAINTS: The Drifted Saint Returns

The theme for this week’s Devotional is Return of Drifting Saints. Prior to Covid the American Church saw a drop in attendance. Post Covid and the pandemic has kept a sizeable number of saints away from church. Our Devotional team shares testimonies and encouragement from God’s Word to stir up the return of love and good works.
SCRIPTURE: “Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. 2 For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, 3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,” Hebrews 2:1-3
The Lord gave me a precious gift to hold in my hands,
What’s inside is beyond what I could ever think, imagine, or plan;

Its worth is immeasurable, incalculable, and inestimable,
My daily and eternal well-being are ensured and invaluable;

It's my responsibility to carry this gift everywhere I go,
It preserves my life, so no matter what, I can’t let go;

It even comes with a manual filled with heavenly experiences and instructions,
Granting me godly truth through illustrations, directions, and spiritual substance;

Despite my gift’s spiritual power, amenities, and protection,
I am still prone to doubt it, forget it, drop it, and neglect it;

Often, while carrying this gift, I begin to drift away,
I ignored the rewards and disregarded what the manual says;

Worldly pleasures, activities, and ideas begin to steal my attention,
The power and truth I’m holding begin to lose its value and significance;

Although, this gift that the Lord has given me never changes,
My focus and allegiance to other things have been rearranged;

The world becomes the priority as my focus starts to wander,
Things that are bad, or even things that are noble are so much fonder;

At times, unaware, yet slowly but surely fading away,
Subconsciously and unthinkingly, I am rapidly drifting away;

Yet, the gift remains in my hands, but it appears from a far distance,
The less time I spent with the gift reflects negligence and resistance;

Now, I stand in the midst of real danger,
I chose to drift off without bringing the gift as my anchor;

Far out at sea where there is no prayer, church, or intercession,
Way out in the forest where there is no Bible, accountability, or meditation;

I’ve realized what I placed before the ultimate gift has no eternal value,
The gift of Jesus Christ is superior to all that I say, think, ask, or do;

Consider, if I am far away from the Lord, who moved?
My drift is measured by what He says and what I do;

It’s up to me to take heed and apply,
What distract and pull me away from Christ must spiritually die;

Therefore, here is the return of a lost and missing saint,
I may have drifted for a moment, but His grace will never be taken away.

Prayer:
Lord! I can’t count how many times I have drifted away. And I’m sure for each time, my will is stamped all over it. Even the times when there were noble matters or good intentions, nothing should supersede Your will and way. I’m so grateful that You are patient and faithful. Waking up to new mercies! Experiencing Your grace second by second. You are an awesome God! Thank You for receiving me in my return. In the matchless name of Jesus, Amen!

Amen. It's God's unchanging hands to which we must hold, and too, appreciate.
