REMOVAL OF CONFUSION: The Word is Our Prize

Our Devotional Team has some great perspectives instore for you based on this week’s theme Removal of Confusion. By week’s end not only will you have a better understanding about confusion, but you will also have 1 Corinthians 14:33 committed to memory.
SCRIPTURE: “For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.” I Corinthians 14:33
Confusion is a state of disorder. Examples of confusion could be a man found to be in a relationship with his father’s wife and he is a member of the church (I Corinthians 5:1-5); or a Christian young woman getting engaged to a young man who is a professing atheist (2 Corinthians 6:14-15). How should these critical matters be handled in the church?

I remember when I first started coming to GBFC and there were times Pastor was forced to call persons to the front of the church about a matter that had caused confusion, lies, and gossip. Pastor would ask the main subjects to explain the matters so the truth would be heard; and all the lies and confusion could be quieted. Though it was awkward, it was refreshing to see gossip exposed for the real damage it can cause.

For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace...The just shall live by faith; and faith in the Word of God. We have no place else to go! The Word of God is sharp; and it is ready to address matters of confusion and destruction to bring about change, growth, and repentance. In I Corinthians 5:1-5, Paul instructs the church to put the man out of the church for his sexual sin with his father’s wife. The purpose of his removal was not to have him ridiculed, but to preserve and honor the truth of God’s Word and fundamental doctrine. God encourages us to care far more for the soul than a reputation. God desires that none should perish; He wants the man’s heart to change and soften towards His truth and good pleasure. Yes, God wants repentance!

Same with the example of a young lady (or a young man) in an unequally yoked relationship. There should be liberty expressed and embraced for designated Titus 2 women and men of the church to have a conversation with our young women and men about the dangers of this type of “faux” union.  As our young women and men humble themselves under God’s Word and the discipleship of those Titus 2 Agents, may that give way to an in-depth discussion that light has no fellowship with darkness; and to think it does, is foolish.

Prayer: Lord, we are continually brought to crossroads and awkward roads of confusion; and we want the way of least resistance. Yes, the easiest way to handle great matters of the heart. Lord, forgive us for bowing down to our fears; and not taking up our cross and following what You have given us in Your Word: Strength, Courage, and the Faith to believe that You are who You say You are; and You will do all that You have promised. For You are our Portion forever! Thank You Lord! In Jesus’ Name-Amen!
