HEALING OF DAMAGED HEARTS: Great is the Lord’s Mighty Power, Hallelujah.
This week, the devotions team will focus on the topic “Healing of Damaged Hearts.” Join us each morning for encouragement through God’s Word and our Devotionals.
SCRIPTURE: "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Psalms 147:3
This Psalm 147 is thought to have been penned by David, as he gives an account of the return of the Jews from captive Babylon, the rebuilding of greatly fallen and decayed Jerusalem, and the restoration of the life of His Covenant people from their captivity. The devastation is being built up after being taken from the Jebusites by David. Most importantly, these broken people, wretched, miserable, and broken lives (Psalm137:1); (Isa. 64:6-12) stand in need of healing.
The Lord gathers the exiled Jews and brings them back to their own land. I recall the words of Isaiah 61:1; “He sent me to bind up the broken hearted.” The Lord speaks peace, and He can cure pain and sorrows. The Almighty God is “near to those who have a broken heart" Psalm 34:18. Great is He; mighty in power, and His understanding is infinite, Psalm 147:5. The Lord is merciful to the distraught returning Jews. He heals them of their broken heartedness and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3, by His Word and divine power. The Lord’s mercy alone gives the Jews reason to sing praises Psalm103:1-3.
Psalm 147:3 shows us that our God cares and is compassionate to those who are hurting. He is able to cure pain and sorrows. “God is near to those who have broken hearts and saves such as have a contrite spirit.” Psalm 34:18. That verse is a promise, revealing who God is and what he can do. My God knows, He sees, He cares, and He provides. He is aware of our every experience with pain and suffering. Our Almighty God is available to minister to those who suffer, are distraught and those who experience hardship.
This present generation of people appear to be crushed by tragedies and the weight of life. However, believers stand assured that God sees, cares, and provides for those who trust and fear Him. The Almighty God gives hope when we are at our lowest. That hope gives us the strength to begin anew.
Prayer: Lord, you are God Almighty, who forgives, pardon iniquity, heals, protect, and
provide. For, Your merciful bank is never over-drawn. In Jesus name. Amen

When Im hurting, it is such a blessing to know that my Savior cares. He already saw it, already knew it would happen and He still wants me to run to Him with it. I cannot bear these burdens along. I must tell Jesus.
