HEALING OF A DAMAGED HEART: Accomplish a Far Greater Purpose

This week, the devotions team will focus on the topic “Healing of Damaged Hearts.”  Join us each morning for encouragement through God’s Word and our Devotionals.
SCRIPTURE: “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds {curing their pains and their sorrows},” Psalm 147:3
“Many evils confront the {consistently} righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” Psalm 34:19
As a believer, we answer a call to walk in the love of Christ. We welcome the process of being conformed into our Great Lord’s image, for this is the Father’s will and His good pleasure. Therefore, principles such as, forgiveness, lovingkindness, tender mercies are to be extended even without a reciprocation. In the natural, we extend anything that looks like love only when we know we will get it in return. When we are offended, God is able to provide such a loving embrace that His Power, Wisdom, and Omniscience eliminate the need for revenge. Instead, God can use our offenses for His glory.

God desires believers to look like who we are. We are His children; we are unique, “a peculiar people”, long-suffering, as He is. The way God orchestrates our growth is usually in our uncomfortable circumstances”; yes, it’s how we respond to the fires that are careful to ultimately make us as gold (useful for His purposes). Genuinely loving and forgiving another for an offense; and responding to them in a godly fashion is the way we can, not only, win the offender, but also win those who witness the offense. It can be used as a testimony of God’s amazing unconditional love and forgiveness.

A damaged heart is no excuse to divert from God’s plan. The damage done has a purpose. God loves us to the core (He sent His Son to die for us!); and He realizes how we are hurt, yet He still allows tragedies to occur; but All for His glory. Roman 8:28, encourages us that all things work together for the good of them that love the Lord; we exist for His purposes. Ephesians 2:10 reminds us, we are God’s workmanship recreated in Christ Jesus (born anew), for the very purposes of doing the good works which God foreordained that we should walk in them. We can make Him proud even after sustaining a broken heart!

Prayer: Lord, help us to know that our afflictions are accomplishing greater purposes that we are not even able to realize. Help us, Lord, to resist the devil and to draw near to You when those times of affliction and vulnerability occur. Thank You for Your provision and loving kindness; for it is better than life. Help us to be resilient to recover and embrace You, Lord, and do our part in helping to build Your kingdom. In Jesus’ Name-Amen!
