DIVISION IN THE BODY: The Recipe for Unity
The Theme for this week’s devotionals is “Division in the Body in Home, Marriages, and Friends” a topic for which Pastor Wayne Cockrell has consistently asked the body of Christ to be in prayer. Be encouraged by today’s devotional and please continue to pray with us.

Scripture: "Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment." 1 Corinthians 1:10
I’ve gathered the ingredients that I am familiar with to ensure unity,
Seeking happiness and success for a prosperous relationship or community;
I once believed that the essential items necessary were found in cultural views,
The best interest of people and their standards would make things easier to chew;
However, the good taste lasts for a moment, but the everlasting flavor has been left out,
Master Chef Paul, pleads with us to change the recipe to reflect what unity is all about;
Often, the recipe for unity benefits a particular group, organization, party, or religion,
So, I have been forced to spit out the food that represents the bad taste of division;
Continually mixing ingredients that are sinful, carnal, or unhealthy to the body of Christ,
An unaccountable diet from a menu that serves envy, selfish ambition, pride, and strife;
We’ve naturally acquired a worldly appetite pre- and post-salvation,
Different guests at the dining table with menu orders of unhealthy expectations;
The nourishment for the body of Christ is found in a group of believers in unity,
A recipe that creates one acquired flavor through different like-minded people;
Now, the beginning of every meal starts with Christ as the main course,
Saying grace at His table, eating daily bread, and listening for His voice;
As the recipe of unity dominates a person, group, church, family, or marriage,
Whether the meal is good or bad that day, the main course will nourish and encourage;
And even when another appealing recipe is presented or offered
Our recipe is the way, truth, and life, while others will make us nauseous;
So, the recipe for Kingdom living that creates a bond of power and peace,
Is listed in the scriptures highlighting love, forgiveness, kindness, and obedience.
Prayer: Lord, You made us different, but You expect us to function on one accord. Nothing added or taken away from how you commanded us to live through the Body of Christ. Continue to convict us as we pursue unity in our homes, churches, marriages, and relationships. You want us all to prioritize Your truth. Lord, anything that opposes You and Your Word, expose it. Strengthen us to turn away from division in the Body of Christ. We are praying for unity Father! In the matchless name of Jesus. Amen,
