Division in the Body: Align with God

The Theme for this week’s devotionals is “Division in the Body in Home, Marriages, and Friends” a topic for which Pastor Wayne Cockrell has consistently asked the body of Christ to be in prayer. Be encouraged by today’s devotional and please continue to pray with us.
SCRIPTURE: “I appeal to you, dear brothers and sisters, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, to live in harmony with each other. Let there be no divisions in the church. Rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose.” 1 Corinthians 1:10
This loving and forgiving God we serve is omniscient and He has set some determinations that
He has connected to His laws and promises. All of what He has determined never conflicts
with His plan and purposes for us. He is never a God of confusion. He is a God of order and
He has said some things to the body to ensure we exemplify unity with Him. Let us look at
principles presented to entities (where we abide) including in the home, in our relationships and in marriage.
Home
Proverbs 24:3, says “By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established;” and
Joshua said it like this, “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15b). To
serve the Lord would include principles such as, Prayer, Praise, Worship, Fast, and Tithe to the
Father. God desires that all who are in the same household practice faith principles, trust in
Him; and align with what brings Him pleasure.
Friends
2 Corinthians 6:14, teaches that we as believers should “not be yoked together with
unbelievers.” This helps us decide who should be our friends (those we confide in or listen to);
who should be our fiancé or spouse (marry); and with whom should we have any binding relationship
(contractual). For by definition “what does light have to do with darkness; and what does
righteousness have to do with unrighteousness?”  (2 Corinthians 6:14)
Marriage
Ephesians 5:22-24, reveals ”Wives should submit to their own husbands, as to the Lord. For
the husband is to be the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, His body,
and He is their Savior.” Then Ephesians 5:25-27 and Colossians 3:19, God teaches that the
husband must love His wife kindly, unconditionally, sacrificially, patiently (just as Christ loves
the church); and in I Peter 3:7, we find that if he does not do so, he will be hindered spiritually.
God desires that we have adequate protection and safety whether it be at home, in marriage or
in any other relationship; therefore, He never leaves us without direction. In Joshua, we find
the way to have a life of “good success” is to “meditate therein day and night, that you may
observe to do according to all that is written in scripture.” (Joshua 1:8).

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your provision and protection in scripture. We find that we are nothing without You; that we should depend upon You for everything. Help us to OBEY You; and seek You FIRST in all matters of life; that we may bring You honor and glory; and thereby, experience “success”. In Jesus’ Name-Amen!

Alignment. What a word for these present times when right is wrong, and wrong is right, and none know up from down. Controversy and conflict abounds. Holy Spirit of Christ have your way with us all that your 'light' lend to and through our rest and our reach. Through the harmony we are equipped to show, and grow may blessings flow, and may the Lord, our God be glorified! Amen.
