PRESERVATION OF OUR LORD’S TESTIMONY: We Must Share It

This month the Devotions Ministry will focus on a prayer list that Pastor Wayne Cockrell created a few months ago for the Genesis Bible Fellowship Church Family. In this ministry of encouragement our writers will devote a week to one topic, and we pray that you will be blessed by their words of exhortation.
SCRIPTURE: “They almost made an end of me on earth, But I did not forsake Your precepts. Revive me according to Your lovingkindness, So that I may keep the testimony of Your mouth.” Psalm 119:87-89
Today, we see how great a task it is to preserve our Lord’s testimony. We must stand up against family, close friends, and even some we believe to be sisters and brothers in Christ. Fear cannot be a factor; and many times, in casual conversations, we find ourselves battling a secular phenomenon.  When it happens, you know, when you hear a seemingly innocent (on the surface) statement, you are gripped; the thought or idea is like a slap in the face. You never saw it coming. You immediately guard up; our guard should have never gone down, right? We find ourselves in a dilemma. How do we share in a way to win the person who has just offended not only us but the truth of God’s Word. We want to correct the wrong and at the same time convince or save the one who has been deceived.

I grew up in West Baltimore. Most of the youngsters in my neighborhood had thoughts about God, but there were only a few who were exposed to the Scriptures, Sunday school, etc. I remember in high school where instructors would stand and highlight authors’ ideas about God and creation. They would explain God away with thoughts like the earth came into existence with an explosion (The Big Bang Theory). I remember there were a few of us who were eager to input our recall of Genesis 1, “God created the heaven and the earth”. I would think to myself, how could this teacher say such a thing; how could he not believe the Bible. Even then I was grateful for all of those who took time to share the truth of God’s Word with me.

If we are not careful, today’s media, influencers, etc. will attempt to wash away our foundation of truth. We must be vigilant, and unafraid to proclaim what the Bible teaches us about God and His known pattern of a desire to have relationship with us throughout all of His Word. We must preserve His testimony of love, kindness, mercy and great grace towards us with our children, family, and even co-workers. We, as Soldiers of the Cross, should wear our banner, our armor, our Love for the Lord Jesus wherever we go. Our proclamation of Scripture should always be at home, our surrounding communities, and the world.

Jesus the Christ is our Lord and Savior; He is the Author and Finisher of our Faith; He is our Soon Coming King; He is our Portion Forever; We can do nothing without Him! He came in all Righteousness to take captive the sin that separated us from His Everlasting Love!

Prayer:  Lord, thank You for the opportunities to promote You and Your teaching on current concepts and ideas with those who minimize who You are! Thank You that what You allow are always for Your Sovereign purposes and for our good. Help us to trust You with every bone in our body; and know that You will give us help in proclaiming Your truths. We pray for our families, communities, and this world that they will accept You as their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I am grateful, Lord, for the opportunity to be counted as a witness for You! In Jesus’ Name - Amen!
