AFTER I’VE FAILED, HOW DO I RETURN?

SCRIPTURE: “But Peter said, ’Man, I do not know what you are saying!’ Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. 61 And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, ‘Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.’ 62 So Peter went out and wept bitterly.” Luke 22:60-62
Once one has failed, how does one come back to the Lord Jesus Christ? The enemy has sized you up. Peter was on the enemy’s radar for a while and you have been on his radar too, or some assigned demon. Yes, there was a classroom and your name came up. Someone gave your name to some demon and that demon has surveyed your life and he understands your ‘Simon’ tendency. He can lurk and lurk and wait for you to kick into ‘Simon’ gear, because when you do not walk in the Spirit, all that is left is ‘Simon.’ If you and I are not careful, we will be in ‘Simon’ mode. Therein lies the times of temptation, the times of being sifted, the times of pressure, the times when you and I will resort to our flesh and depend upon our flesh. But the flesh can’t stand!

The enemy attacked Simon’s weaknesses. Peter’s natural courage became an issue of fear. His pridefulness resulted in an issue of shame. His promisses of faith resulted in a demonstration of his unfaithfulness. His proposed leadership became a public denial of Jesus. Peter was perceived as a coward. All of the disciples scattered, but Peter denied Him, even after he was forewarned of the test. This does not just happen to Peter-it has happened to us. We are Peter! So, it begs the question; once one has failed, how does one come back to the Lord Jesus Christ? Repent and turn back to Jesus. You are a vessel that still can be used for His glory!

PRAYER: Father in heaven, You have given unto us an assurance that You have a specific and personal plan for our lives. Your promises give me peace and a sense of safety in a world I realize I can't control. Thank You for making me Your child. In Jesus Name, amen.

My goodness that was powerful! Even as the scripture says that Peter bitterly wept, how many times have we wept bitterly after we have realized our sin. Those are the times when we come back and beg for Jesus' forgiveness. Only He can give that peace that comes from a broken and contrite heart. Hallelujah, Lord!

Amen & Amen ! We must keep our eyes on our Lord and Savior. Following and obeying Him. It is God who can work all things, even our failure for His glory...
